Although this prototype's keys work, their click and feel isn't as good as what we'll get in mass production. It's a relatively makeshift version to integrate and validate our designs
I'll share a detailed video walk through of a representative version when we get to the early stages of mass production
Our design intent is to have it feel like Logitech MX keys or a laptop keyboard
I would like to! I just need to look into the operational logistics behind it. Let me get back to you on this when we have the freight/shipping calculations all done
I've been looking for basically an "Apple Magic Keyboard but split in half" for years, so this looks perfect.
Totally agreed with your decision to keep the layout as close to the native Mac keyboard as possible.
I'm currently using the Nuio Keyboard, which is the best option on the market today. However, their bluetooth connectivity is flaky and the layout of ctrl/opt/cmd don't match the native keyboard, so would love to try this keyboard when it comes out.
> However, their bluetooth connectivity is flaky and the layout of ctrl/opt/cmd don't match the native keyboard
I will personally be using the prototype and validating baseline expectations like this so you shouldn't encounter these issues with what we're building
Currently, we're using ZMK with some custom drivers around it to polish a few parts of the user experience. Given that, our keyboard will be programmable if people who would like to drop into bootloader mode and apply a new .uf2
Have you tried the Nuio Flow? It has scissor switches and meets some of your other goals. But is very expensive $300–400 with their whole package costing over $1,000
But looks very stylish if weird. Their number-row is curved into odd positions though, and I don’t know how that would be to type on.
i use a kinesis freestyle2 for the same reasons - i love the split and the tenting. would love to try out a an early version if you’re looking for testers
We don't plan to make a different layout keyboard. With our current firmware, you should be able to adjust the keymap to your liking though. There would be a mismatch between what the keys say and what they do in that case then
What is the timeline? I am basically your exact demo: currently using a freestyle2 blue but hate how clunky it is, so I pre ordered a nocfree split keyboard
I like yours more, butbdon't know how long I'd be willing to wait
We're in the same boat, and I appreciate you like our design. To give you a rough idea, once the kickstarter is funded it will take on the order of months to actually mass produce the first order. I'll be able to provide a more clear timeline in the coming month
I’m in the market now! Excited about this. Data person request: separate matching numpad.
A potential future product if this launch goes well!
Is that a working prototype? I'd be interested in seeing and hearing it in action.

Would you ship to Germany for the first batch?

Very much looking forward to it!

That's be great, I'm glad you found us!

Sleek design. The stand reminds me of the new IPad 👌
Really like the look of this. How are you handling the software? Are you going to use ZMK or building something bespoke?
Thank you Helmer!

I haven't tried it but have seen it. I agree the product direction doesn't suit my needs (price aside)
The whole package costing over $1000 is unreasonable. Our keyboard will cost much less than their base price just based off my analysis
I don't want to price the keyboard at something I wouldn't personally purchase it at!

Appreciate that, we might do a round of early testing once the first iteration of tooling is complete. Will update here if we do!
I've been looking for a split Magic keyboard for years, and this looks awesome!
Are there any plans on making an AZERTY-layout aswel, not just the keycaps, but it changes the layout a tiny bit.

Count me in. This looks so good.
Looks amazing.
That looks sick. Already thinking of typing with it.
It's cool how form and function are balanced, looking practical yet premium.

Awesome, do you also have an estimate on the price?
Looks great! Is the angle / height of the tenting adjustable?
It's not adjustable. I felt there was a tradeoff between letting the user adjust and the simplicity of the product
Simple is cleaner and easier to use. Also, we did the research to make sure the angle is what people should want anyway
