You're not the only person saying this. Maybe one day if there is enough demand we can do an ortholinear version but for now we'll stay true with the standard layout
Yea I love the feeling of scissor switches because of their ultra low travel
When I visited our manufacturers recently to get a feel for the samples they had, they felt great. I'll make sure we don't ship unless the switches feel solid
There are definitely some cheaper scissor switch keyboards out there that don't have that same pop and stable feel
This looks really good so far! I would like to ask has there been any time added for CMM/Metrology of custom components? Have there been assembly stack ups and drawings been made to make sure that the components, given the variability when manufactured, will be able to assemble with minimal scrap rate? As well, what is the timeline for engineering validation, has there been engineering specifications created that need to be met to make sure that the product will meet perceived customer standards? Lastly has build plans, as well as QIPs, been considered for final assembly?
> Have there been assembly stack ups and drawings been made to make sure that the components, given the variability when manufactured, will be able to assemble with minimal scrap rate?
Yep, the assembly stack ups and drawings have been made factoring in the tolerances. Scrap rate targets set and insured by the manufacturer
About engineering validation, and CMM/Metrology: those have been factored into the timeline received by the manufacturer although I am cautiously budgeting some buffer time in case they take longer than expected. When I toured the facilities, I saw the CMM machines it was pretty interesting
QIPs are planned. We will have several opportunities to inspect the samples before finalizing the tooling and first shipment
Awesome and thanks for your response! Im really excited for this project and the tranparency you are providing as you develop this product. Keep up the great work and I can't wait to pick this up when it launches.
I am interested but sad its not ortholinear!

Waiting so patiently but excited. I love the feeling of typing on a Mac keyboard as a SWE so I hope this replicates that experience

We will make it happen, appreciate the thoughtful comments!
