Hey Ryan! Congratulations on this milestone. I'm in Seattle (often in SF for work) and happy to beta test.
Question for you - do you plan for the Compose to be user-serviceable at all, or at least for there to be a way to refresh the scissor switches if they wear out?
Amazing, thank you for offering I will think through distributing the beta testers when the next batch of samples arrives
> Question for you - do you plan for the Compose to be user-serviceable at all, or at least for there to be a way to refresh the scissor switches if they wear out?
Unfortunately scissor switches are typically not user-serviceable. That being said it doesn't mean it's impossible, but we'd need to think through how to do it (e.g. selling spare parts and designing the switches to be easy to replace)
Since it'll take resources to figure out and we're just a tiny Kickstarter project I wouldn't expect this in the first batch. Would be a interesting engineering challenge to figure out though down the road!
Great, noted! Once I have the concrete numbers on what keyboards will be left over after reliability testing and certifications I'll circle back on beta testing
Also on your second note, I hope the keyboard can be helpful for you
Write you down, and will follow up after I have concrete numbers on spare keyboards after testing. The keyboard feels very different from a mechanical split. Much less effort to press the keys down and the sound is basically what you'd expect from a laptop keyboard
That would be great! Noted down, just want to confirm how many keyboard we'll have spare after the reliability testing before picking people for beta testing
I would love to help with a beta test! I struggled with wrist pain for the longest time until I switched to the Kinesis Advantage 2, but I have been looking for a wireless, low-profile, split keyboard for my daily dev work.
I would love to help beta test. I’m an L5 at OpenAI and spend most of my day constantly typing. Let me know if I can help put these keyboards through their paces
I'd be personally shipping these to people so I'll probably prioritize shipping convenience since we have a very limited number for beta testing. Thank you for offering though, I appreciate it!
Hi. I have a question. N key looks like broad, could you split it B and N? When I am typing in Korean, use left hand for consonants, right hand for vowels. But B is a bowel in Korean layout, so I had some trouble to be used in ergonomic keyboard.
Interesting, good to know there is some demand on spliting the B and N. For the first version of the keyboard we're going to keep the layout as is. If there is enough demand for what you're requesting we may make adjustments in a future iteration. So for now I wouldn't expect Korean layout support

That makes sense! Still super stoked on this either way

Exciting update! Happy to help beta test if there are spares. (Based in SF)
Has the battery life on the sample been what you expect?
Great thank you! Battery life has been about what I expected (dropping ~1-2% per day of all day use)
That's what our current firmware reports to the OS from voltage -> battery level lookup table (which I'm not confident is exactly calibrated yet)
But should be somewhat accurate although a direct power measurement will give me ground truth
Would love to help beta test! In SF. I only use my laptop keyboard because I like the shallow keys, but have been interested in split keyboard :)
Thank you for offering, I will keep it in mind for when I figure out our available inventory
I’d love to help beta testing please. I get periodic wrist pain from typing all day long, so I can’t wait to try your keyboard!
Great, noted! Once I have the concrete numbers on what keyboards will be left over after reliability testing and certifications I'll circle back on beta testing
Also on your second note, I hope the keyboard can be helpful for you
Very interested to beta test! I currently use a mechanical split keyboard so very curious how the experience differs

Yep that’s what I’m excited about. I prefer the laptop typing experience but hate the ergonomics.
Very interested in beta testing!
Noted! I'll follow up once I have concrete numbers on how many spare keyboards we'll have left after reliability testing and certifications
Very interested in beta testing!
Im in NYC and use a mech keeb for 90% of my days for work!
I also would love to try working through my personal shortcuts Ive set up and provide any feedback for those porting over from standard keyboards!
That would be great! Noted down, just want to confirm how many keyboard we'll have spare after the reliability testing before picking people for beta testing
Interested in beta testing, I’m in the Bay Area and have been using split keyboards (Kinesis, Glove 80, Piantor Pro) for ever.
Noted down, would be great to get your feedback given you've used those other splits too
I will first confirm how many spares we have before distributing them. Still need to do reliability testing and certifications with the next batch
hey, I can help beta test and provide feedback.
Great thank you for offering, I will get back after getting a sense of how many spares we have left after reliability testing
I would love to help with a beta test! I struggled with wrist pain for the longest time until I switched to the Kinesis Advantage 2, but I have been looking for a wireless, low-profile, split keyboard for my daily dev work.
Great! I hope the keyboard can be what you're looking for
I noted you down. Will need to see how many spares we have left after reliability testing before we distribute them for beta testing
Looking forward to it! Thanks Ryan!
I would love to help beta test. I’m an L5 at OpenAI and spend most of my day constantly typing. Let me know if I can help put these keyboards through their paces
Great noted! I will circle back after reliability testing, that is when I'll know how many spares we can distribute for beta testing
Looking awesome! Would really love to try it, I do code daily. Would I be eligible if I reside outside of the US?
I'd be personally shipping these to people so I'll probably prioritize shipping convenience since we have a very limited number for beta testing. Thank you for offering though, I appreciate it!
Late pledge here, with recently identified some hand/wrist problems due to ergo.
Happy to Beta test if you can send a unit to the UK!
Hola! I'm down to beta test and can help you verify how it holds up under the warm San Diego sun.
Hi. I have a question. N key looks like broad, could you split it B and N? When I am typing in Korean, use left hand for consonants, right hand for vowels. But B is a bowel in Korean layout, so I had some trouble to be used in ergonomic keyboard.
For example, [Nocfree &](https://www.nocfree.com/products/nocfree-and-reservation) has additional B in right keyboard in Korean layout. Only additional B. Same in others. Is it possible to support Korean layout?
Interesting, good to know there is some demand on spliting the B and N. For the first version of the keyboard we're going to keep the layout as is. If there is enough demand for what you're requesting we may make adjustments in a future iteration. So for now I wouldn't expect Korean layout support
Okay. I will try to be used thi layout, but if you find some demands for other layout I hope you will make that.
